JOHNNY A

Taken by the sound of the guitar at an early age Johnny was influenced by the heroes of the day, Beck, Clapton, Hendrix and Page. Inspired by these luminaries he began his career in bands around the New England area of the US. His undoubted talent garnered professional attention which led to Johnny becoming the musical director for the J.Geils Band.

A Grammy nominated artist with three solo albums to his name he has played, toured and recorded with a plethora of artists including, BB.King, Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Steve Tai, Savoy Brown, Joe Bonamassa and Neal Schon.

Johnny’s association with Wilkinson and Trev Wilkinson began in 2024 when Johnny envisioned a touring outfit under the title “Beck-Ola” to pay tribute to the late Jeff Beck, a friend and incredible influence on Johnny.

Commissioning Fender Master Builder, “Austin McNutt” to build a pair of Custom Stratocasters, Johnny wanted to emulate Jeff’s guitars by utilising the original Wilkinson Roller Nut and a vibrato able to handle Becks vibrato magic. Ultimately opting for the new Wilkinson/Gotoh VS1300 locking saddle vibrato with it’s incredible tuning stability and amazing tone and sustain.

This beautiful pair of guitars hit the stage across the US on the Beck-Ola tour and can be seen on numerous video’s posted highlighting the amazing playing of Johnny and his respect to the legend of Jeff Beck

Wilkinson is proud and honoured to be working and supporting Johnny A.
