LOCKING SADDLE VIBRATO

WVS130-2P COMPACT

Tuning issues can be the bane of any guitar player using a vibrato based system. Solving these issues has become a quest for Trev Wilkinson who over the last 30 years has developed methods and processes to alleviate these tuning instabilities.

From our experiences we now know that there are methods that will greatly improve tuning stability such as our stagger and deep drilled blocks both of which help significantly to aid tuning instability. That said there will always be the tone disciples who want the traditional shallow drilled string bore block with six in a line holes as you will find on our beautifully crafted WVS54 Year one vibrato;

However not everyone is traditional, neither is the WVS130-2P Compact.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

The WVS130-2P Compact vibrato is based around a two-pivot vibrato, this of course Wilkinson are
no stranger to with the original and legendary VS100 being a two-pivot system.

There is no denying that when properly engineered and hardened the two-pivot fulcrum system is ideal for tuning stability and a smooth fluid feel, this coupled with a solid machined steel block where the ball ends are anchored at the bottom of the block allows for the strings to fully resonate through the block creating increased sustain. Unfortunately, this method does create more tuning issues from the strings, and this is where the WVS130-2P Compact’s unique saddles remove those tuning issues giving the user the best of both worlds (Tuning stability + Full block sustain).

ENGINEERED TO LAST.

The WVS130-2P Compact locking saddles give the tuning stability that players require from a modern vibrato system. Unlike any other locking saddle the WVS130-2P Compact saddles lock the string directly at the intonation point giving the string the perfect in tune anchor point and the perfect place to offer maximum string sustain. As you would expect from Wilkinson the saddles on the WVS130-2P Compact are engineered to last, each saddle being created using a flow metal process that gives superb precision and extreme hardness, our clamping screws are also hardened so the whole assembly offers long term accurate performance and reliability.

TOTAL CONTROL.

The Total control vibrato arm system is full of Wilkinson developed innovations that offer the player the ability to set the arm tension and arm height perfectly to their preferred feel. The internally threaded stainless-steel arm is anchored at the bottom of the vibrato arm assembly by a matching thread screw/bolt and held perfectly in the neoprene sleeve that is inserted into the assembly and which can be tensioned from a screw in the top collar of the assembly, the stability of this system gives the player instantaneous control with no arm lag.

ROAD TESTED.

The ultimate road test for any product is when it is used for the purpose it was designed for, so when legendary guitar builder John Suhr recommended renown session guitarist Pete thorn to try the WVS130-2P, Wilkinson were eager to hear Pete’s comments and were overjoyed when Pete choose the WVS130-2P as the Vibrato for his new Suhr signature guitar.

As Pete says;
“Trev’s locking saddle design has been the icing on the cake for my Suhr signature guitar! Suhr were the first to offer this bridge on a guitar, and indeed I think I was one of the first to road test it and give it a stamp of approval. Great tone, looks, and stays in tune like nothing else, what more could I ask for? Thanks Wilkinson”.
