As a guitar player John Suhr was always searching for the perfect tone and playability from his instruments.

This drive has ultimately led to the formation of one of the most respected and influential guitar manufacturers in the current musical market place.

First coming to worldwide recognition via Rudy’s Music on the legendary 48th Street in New York, and a certain Mr Mark Knopfler who John had created the now iconic Carved Top Pensa-Suhr instruments for in the Rudy’s guitar workshop, John was now an in demand guitar builder who was working with the cream of guitar players such as, Pat Thrall, Reb Beach and Stevie Van Zandt.

A change of course and passion for guitar amplification saw John join rack wizard Bob Bradshaw in California, here Suhr excelled at another trade and created the now legendary Custom Audio OD100 amplifier and CAE3+ preamp .

Joining Fender’s prestigious Custom Shop program as a Master Builder Suhr continued to work on both guitars and amplifiers, eventually leaving to setup JS Technologies in Lake Elsinore in 1997.

Steadily growing each year since its inception and now simply known as Suhr, John and his dedicated team now produce a range of exceptional guitars, basses, amplifiers, effects, pickups and accessories that are revered worldwide.

John has used Wilkinson hardware since the inception of Suhr, and shares a close working relationship with the Wilkinson brand and Trev Wilkinson.
