Phil X

A highly respected gear aficionado and internet legend, Canadian born Phil X is known for his stunning guitar playing and musicianship, as well as his infectious humour and overall positive enthusiasm for guitar. An established studio player, Phil’s guitar work can be heard on albums from artists such as, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Tommy Lee, Alice Cooper, Daughtry among many others.

As a touring musician and artist he has played with AOR legend, Aldo Nova, Canadian superstars Triumph and is now a permanent band member of Bon Jovi as well as touring with his own bands; most notably his current outfit Phil X & the Drills.

Heavily involved in his own sound, Phil has designed four custom guitar pickups with manufacturer Arcane, and has his own signature amplifier with Friedman Amplification, the Friedman X.

Working with Yamaha and Framus, Phil has become recognised for his personal choice of guitars featuring only bridge humbuckers and double cutaway styling based on classic electric guitar designs.

In 2019 Phil joined Gibson as an artist and brand ambassador.
