VS100CV CONVERSION KIT

Designed around the legendary VS100 vibrato, the VS100CV Vibrato added an ingenious and innovative design that allowed a free floating vibrato to be locked into position by just the movement of the Vibrato arm. The Convertible as it was named was a revolution, never before had the player had the ability to switch in the literal sweep of a plectrum from a free floating vibrato with full movement in both directions, to a fixed bridge that was ideal for muting, double bends and palming techniques, all while remaining perfectly in-tune.

The components to convert the VS100 into a VS100CV are now available in limited numbers directly from Wilkinson.

MECHANICS OF THE CV

The heart of the Convertible system lies in its unique vibrato arm mechanism and the rear custom back-plate. When the vibrato arm is swung down away from the strings, the elongated vibrato arm of the CV system extending through the body of the guitar connects into a receptacle attached to the CV system back-plate. In this position the bridge is fixed and cannot move in either direction. Moving the bar up into the normal playing position disengages the end stem of the bar from the rear receptacle releasing the vibrato into a free floating state with full up and down movement.

COMPONENTS

The CV kit includes three components to convert the VS100 vibrato into the VS100CV.

  • Convertible arm (complete assembly, see diagram)

  • Vibrato top plate

  • Rear vibrato back-plate with arm anchor lock receptacle

Please note, the CV kit is not a complete system, a VS100N unit is required for the conversion which is available separately from this website.
