Handcrafted Tone
Our R series Caliber 5257 W90n takes its heritage from a vintage ES125 pickup from Trev Wilkinson’s collection of historical components, designed to be used in the neck position its fat single coil tone is clear and full and ideal for Jazz and Blues players wanting a pure classic tone.
Crafted by hand, the Caliber 5257 W90n uses an original style bent nickel silver backing plate and wooden spacers under its rough cast alnico V bar magnets, wound with AWG.42 Plain enamel wire to our specific specifications we use traditional braided 2 strand wire for connection and that true vintage vibe.
R Series Creation
Trev Wilkinson’s induction into music was through the tones of what we now call iconic or legendary players, the sounds these artists produced inspired Trev’s playing and also his future in music.
While Hank Marvin’s use of vibrato peaked the young inventor’s interest in a device that would become such an integral part of the Wilkinson brand, the tone and sound created by Clapton, Beck, Green and other influential players was a massive influence as were the instruments and components that created these tones.
The R series of pickups is the result of years of listening to pickups, time spent with legendary inventors such as Seth Lover and Leo Fender discussing all aspects about sound, materials and production methods, add these ingredients to hours and hours of testing and tweaking and you have the R series, our finest pickups.
